Wise Sayings

Zig Ziglar, well known author, speaker, and sales trainer had a great way with words.  I have copied quite a few of his quotes below:

  1. When you put faith, hope and love together, you can raise positive kids in a negative world.
  2. If God would have wanted us to live in a permissive society He would have given us Ten Suggestions and not Ten Commandments.
  3. You are the only person on earth who can use your ability.
  4. Sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful.
  5. Building a better you is the first step to building a better America.
  6. You cannot tailor make your situation in life, but you can tailor make your attitudes to fit those situations.
  7. Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.
  8. Every choice you make has an end result.
  9. You cannot perform in a manner inconsistent with the way you see yourself.
  10. Are you a SNIOP? Someone who is Sensitive to the Negative Influence Of Others.
  11. There has never been a statue erected to honor a critic.
  12. Don’t be distracted by criticism. Remember the only taste of success some people have is when they take a bite out of you.
  13. You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.
  14. Failure is a detour, not a dead-end street.
  15. People who have good relationships at home are more effective in the marketplace.
  16. If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.
  17. Famous archer, Howard Hill won all of the 267 archery contests he entered. He could hit a bullseye at 50 feet, then split first arrow with the second. Would it be possible for you to shoot better than him? YES, if he were blindfolded! How can you hit a target you can’t see? Even worse, how can you hit a target you don’t even have!? You need to have GOALS in your life!
  18. What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.
  19. You cannot make it as a wandering generality. You must become a meaningful specific.
  20. A goal properly set is halfway reached.
  21. Our favorite attitude should be gratitude.
  22. Happiness is not pleasure, it is victory.
  23. The way you see people is the way you treat them.
  24. Many marriages would be better if the husband and the wife clearly understood that they are on the same side.
  25. Money won’t make you happy… but everybody wants to find out for themselves.
  26. People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing-that’s why we recommend it daily.
  27. This I do know beyond any reasonable doubt. Regardless of what you are doing, if you pump long enough, hard enough and enthusiastically enough, sooner or later the effort will bring forth the reward.
  28. The most important persuasion tool you have in your entire arsenal is integrity.
  29. Many people spend more time in planning the wedding than they do in planning the marriage.
  30. It’s not what you’ve got, it’s what you use that makes a difference.
  31. Success is dependent upon the glands — sweat glands.
  32. You can have anything in the world you want if you’ll just help enough other people get what they want.
  33. You don’t pay the price for success. You enjoy the price for success.  Success is the maximum utilization of the ability that you have
  34. Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting — in the trying, not the triumph, Success is a personal standard — reaching for the highest that is in us — becoming all that we can be. If we do our best, we are a success. Success is the maximum utilization of the ability that you have
  35. It’s your aptitude, not just your attitude that determines your ultimate altitude

I also thought you might possibly be interested in reading or listening to him tell his life story.  The audio is read by Zig Ziglar himself and is about 43 minutes ling.  I promise you will find him a very entertaining speaker.

Both the printed version and the audio version can be found here for FREE: http://www.zigziglarstory.com/

There is also a 10 minute video of Zig giving one of his best humorous illustrations on the page for the Dallas News that ran his obituary.  You can watch that here: http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2012/11/motivational-speaker-zig-ziglar-died-this-morning-at-86.html/
